The development was driven by desire to give an experienced pilot a dynamic,
high performance glider, with easy , intuitive, handling. To achieve this
we created completely new glider , using latest technology and constriction
elements. The wing is based on a new profile that gives high performance
and resistance to collapse.
Careful tuning makes Fenix a great glider with exceptional stability,
even at maximum speed when using a speed system. Experienced pilots will
appreciate great thermaling and XC performance.. The new profile enables
Fenix to penetrate strong thermals, and precise steering allows to stay
even in the smallest ones.

The sail uses proven diagonal
ribs that increase its stability, while reducing the number of lines in
the bridle. To improve performance and speed the leading edge is partially
closed .The cell openings are designed so that the glider is kept properly
inflated, and the inside pressure kept high, within the whole speed range.
To increase rigidity there is a tension strap running along the wing where
the D - lines are attached to the sail, to transfer the tension and to
keep the wing aerodynamically clean. Tension straps are partially used
along other line attachments. Bridling is in 2 layers with minimal numbers
of lines used to minimise the drag.
With 4 risers the speed system tilts the whole profile so the glider is
is highly stabile in the whole of the speed range, with a high glide ratio
even at the maximum speed. Speed bar movement is easy and sail responds
smoothly.
Main materials used :
top/bottom
surface - Skytex S9017
ribs - Skytex
S 9017 with hard penetration/impregnation
reinforcement
- Dacron W-382/175g and Mylar Scrim
lines Cousin
Dyneema 1.1mm (bridle)
Cousin superaramid
1.7mm (main lines)
To achieve a top performance and a pleasant handling we used :
hidden seems
on top and bottom surfaces
Mylar reinforcement
on bridled ribs of the leading edge
4 risers with
easy running speed system
magnets for
easy attachment of brake handles
Velcro belt
for easy packing
Apart from high performance at high speed, FENIX is easy to handle on
the ground and to launch. Superb handling and stability are comparable
with those of standard category wings.
